FIRST PLEA OF GUILTY

Nuremberg War Crimes Trial LONDON, March 28. Bradford-born Ernest Wilhelm Bohle, former head of the Nazi Party organisation outside Germany became the first defendant in all the Nuremberg war crime trials to plead guilty, says Reuter’s Nuremberg correspondent. When the trial of 21 former high officials of the German Foreign Office and diplomatic service began on December 19, Bohle, who was born in Bradford, pleaded' not guilty. He altered his plea yesterday to a plea of guilty to the political persecution of Germans and civilians in occupied countries, and to membership of the SS, but maintained his plea of not guilty to planning aggressive war and looting abroad. The prosecutor announced that these two charges would be dropped. The court adjourned until May 3 when the case for the defence will be opened. 1
