SOLID RANK FORMED

Drive to End European Colonial Rule

(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, Mar. 2S. A majority of the bigger LatinAmerican nations to-day formed an apparently solid rank behind the drive to end European colonial rule ini the Western Hemisphere, says Reuter’s Bogota (Colombia) correspondent.

Mexico is the latest to join Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Ecuador and Bolivia in support of a Guatemalan resolution calling for the elimination of British, French, Dutch and Portuguese colonies in the new world by “peacefkul means,” which will be considered at the inter American conference opening at Bogota on March 30. Uruguay and Venezuela, which have been campaigning heavily against the retention by Britain of British Guiana, are expected to support the resolution. Colombia, which was determined to adopt a neutral attitude, is now uncertain. Only Brazil among the major Latin-American nations appears to be siding with the United States’ desire that the colonial issue should not be raised now. While the colonial question will he an important issue at Bogota, the chief concern of the LatinAmerican Governments will be to enlist United States assistance in building up their industries and developing their resources.
