AIRCRAFT FROM AMERICA (Rec. 10.30) WASHINGTON, Mar. 26. President Truman to-day imposed tight controls on the export of aircraft and aircraft parts, classing them Avith other war material. White House issued a Presidential Proclamation revising, from April 15, the list of articles Avhich ■ cannot be shipped from the United States except under special licence. It designates small-arms, machine-guns, fire-control equipment and range-finders, as well as aircraft. Congressmen have been clamouring for tightened export controls since the disclosure, this week, that some aei;oplane engines, sold by the United States Government as Avar surplus, were eventually sent to Russia by private buyers. President Truman’s action means that nobody can lawfully export aircraft or parts AVithout specific Government permission.
