PRELIMINARY NOTICE: irpHE above property of 2893 Acres, i carrying approximately 2500 ewes and replacements, 30 head cattle and necessary feed crops, which is situated on the Waitaki Road, 22 miles SouthWest of Waimate, is being acquired by the Crown and will be offered shortly for selection by ex-servicemen. There will be 2 units. In view of the amount of capital involved the Land Settlement Board has decided that only ex-servicemen with special qualifications and ability Avill be admitted to the ballot, such men to be holders of a special grading certificate for this Settlement. Applications for special grading will be considered only from ex-servicemen who are prepared to contribute not less than £IOOO cash if they wish to select under Renewable Lease or not less than £2OOO if under Agreement for Sale and Purchase, and who fall within one of the following three classes: — 1. Those who already hold an ordinary A grading for' sheep and forage crops (Types 6 and 7) for the South Canterbury district. 2. Those who already hold an A grading that includes sheep and forage cropping in other districts. 3. Those farmer ex-servicemen who have not yet applied for grading but wtio have the cash required and consider they have the necessary special qualifications and ability.

If you are in doubt as to the scope of your grading certificate you should enquire at your nearest Rehabilitation Office. intending applicants should apply not later than FRIDAY, 9th APRIL, 1948, to the neai'est Rehabilitation Officer who will arrange for grading, or review of grading, by the Timaru Farming Sub-Committee. Applications received later than the 9th April will not be accepted. Schedules of the offering will be supplied subsequently to all holders of the special grading certificate.
