FIFTY YEARS SYNE (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 189 S). Ashburton Swimming Club The final races of the season of the Ashburton Amateur Swimming Club were held yesterday. Results were: School Cup—C. Mayo 1, A. Sparrow 2, N. Wilkie 3, H. Braddell 4 (all from Ashburton Borough School). Mayo won by about a yard, Sparrow beating Wilkie by some two feet for second place, with Braddell close behind. 220 Yards Senior Handicap: McKinney (scr) 1, A. Wilkie (scr) 2, C. Willis (15sec) 3. Mr A. Harrison acted as starter, and Mr F. Russell as judge.

They have now asked the Board of Governors to grant a site, suggesting the available part of the Boys’ High School playing ground in Hereford Street.
