THE WEATHER
OVERCAST AND COOL The sky was overcast and temperatures were cooler this morning in Ashburton. The maximum and minimum temperatures for the 24 hours ending at 9 а. m. to-day were 59.5 and 41.5 degrees, compared with 70.0 and 45.0 degrees during the previous corresponding period. The barometer this' morning registered 29.92 inches compared with 30.03 inches yesterday. The earth temporal lire to-day was 55.2 degrees against 56.5, degrees yesterday. UNSETTLED OUTLOOK The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: Deep depressions over the Tasman Sea are moving-south-east. 'The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Moderate variable winds, weather cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain developing to-morrow, and temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Unsettled. SUN, MOON AND TIDES Sun rose to-day, 6.3 S a.m.; sets, 6.35 p.m. Sun rises to-morrow, 6.39 a.m.; sets, б. p.m. Last Quarter, April 1, 10.25 p.m. New Moon.
