GREEK FORCES
“BRILLIANT VICTORY” ACHIEVED (Rec. 12.5 p.m.) ATHENS, March 24. Major-General Van Fleet, chief of the United States military mission to Greece, said the Greek Army, with air force support, killed or captured 1155 guerillas in a “brilliant victory” in the Olympus area. He added that the battle was continuing, and the guerillas’ losses were mounting. The Greek News Agency announced from Salonika that Greek armoured forces dominated the whole of the Pverria mountain chain (part of the Olympus range) after fighting in violent snowstorms.
