WILL PULL THROUGH

NO DEFEATIST ATTITUDE IN BRITAIN Government May Not Last Long (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “Very few Labour candidates will! be returned at the next elections in Great Britain if, indeed, the present Government lasts until then.” This opinion was expressed by Mr William Hepworth, managing-director of an English engineering firm which plans to establish an automotive manufacturing factory in Auckland, who arrived by the Wahine to-day. Mr Hepworth said that although circumstances, not necessarily of their own making, might have militated against them, the Labour Government and its administrators had not fulfilled their election promises. Things had gone from bad to worse, and thej’’ were showing no signs of effectively dealing with the situation. “Nevertheless,” added Mr Hepworth, “the Englishman has got his chin up. By no means have I noticed a defeatist attitude in our people. They are suffering hardships and are continually being called on to make sacrifices, but they will pull through and, in the end, will prosper again.”
