MISSIONARY SERVICE

VISITOR FROM INDIA There was a large attendance at the Baptist Church last evening when the guest preacher was the Rev. M. J. Eade, a New Zealand Baptist missionary in India. Mr Eade conducted the whole service and the choir sang the anthem “Anywhere with Jesus.” The address was based upon the text, “My Father worketh hitherto, and 1' work.” Throughout his message Mr Eade vividly illustrated the fact that God was working in India to-day. He said the church in India was a miracle. It had survived persecution, famine and flood, and during the war years rapid progress had been made. Speaking particularly of the New Zealand Baptist work he told of great gains which had been made in Trepuna State, where whole villages had become Christian. At an after-church function in the hall, Mr Eade showed films which very vivdly portrayed the work of the mission. A particularly impressive reel dealt with the educational work done by the mission at St. Paul’s School, Angatala. Another reel of interest showed scenes of happenings on Independence Day, 1947. Other scenes shown covered village life, hospital work, jungle travel, and itinerant evangelism. > The hall was filled to capacity for this function, and at the close Mr Eade met with most present, and discussed various phases of the work.
