“ARM TO AVERT WAR"
APPEAL BY PRESIDENT ROXAS MANILA, March 21. Urging “all peace nations” do follow the United States and “arm to full capacity to avert a third world war,” President Roxas, in a speech at Santo Tomaft University, to-day attacked Russia and said a political fifth column was operating in practically every country to tear down democracy and pave the way for Communism. The present international situation k is believed to have been the subject of a conference yesterday between President Roxas and the United States Ambassador (Mr Emmet O’Neal). Although no announcement was made, it was reliably learned that the Malacan Palace and Embassy are closely watching current developments.
