NEW CONSTITUTION

CANTERBURY PATRIOTIC COUNCIL Yesterday a meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council was held in Christchurch and a new constitution was adopted simplifying the previous constitution. The Mid-Canterbury representation consists, of one member appointed by the Ashburton Borough Council and Tinwald Town Board, and one member appointed by the Ashburton County Council. Two representatives are to be appointed annually of the Canterbury branches of the R..S.A. and one .is to he appointed annually by the South Canterbury branches and subbranches of the R.S.A. An innovation is that one representative of the Canterbury branches of the ITomeservicemen’s Association is to he added to the council. The constitution ot Welfare Committees of the various districts was decided at the meeting. The old zone committees have been abolished, and in the new committee, as it affects Ashburton, there will he one representative from the Ashburton County Council, one representative from the Ashburton Borough and Tinwald Town Board, one of 'the Red Cross Society, one of the R.S.A., and one oL the Homeservioenien’s Association.
