OVERCAST AND COOL Conditions were overcast an\l cool this morning in Ashburton,, but brightened up later in the day. There were 10 5 hours of sunshine yesterday. _ . The maximum and minimum temperatures, ending at 9 a.m., were 66.0 and 41.0 degrees, compared with 63 and 51 for the previous. 24 hours. The barometer this morning measured 30.00 inches against 29.87 yesterday. T]ie earth temperature to-day was 57.0, and yesterday 58.5.
OUTLOOK FAIR The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: An anti-cyclone extends over New Zealand and a low pressure trough near Tasmania is moving east. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Moderate winds, north-east on the coast, north-west inland; weather fair, cold night and moderate day temperatures. Outlook: Fair.
