GLADING BEATEN BY HORNE

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 12. The open champion, R. H. Glading, was defeated by the defending amateur champion, W. G. Horne, in the second round of the New Zealand amateur golf championships on the New Plymouth Club’s links to-day. Horne played exceptionally well and fully deserved his win. The weather was gloriously fine, with a slight breeze from the north, providing conditions ideal for good scoring. Two Australians, W. A. Edgar and R. S. Brown, have entered the quarter-finals. There were two .close finishes in the semi-finals of the professional championships, and the standard of play was particularly high. A. Murray beat A. J. Shaw 1 up, and A. E. Guy beat J. Weir by the same margin. Results:
