RADIOED PICTURES

SATISFACTORY TESTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The first picture to be radioed from the Dominion —from the ; newly-com-pleted installation at the General Post Office in Wellington—was one of '“Miss New Zealand” taken by Mr W. P. Walker of the national film unit. It was sent to a station in Melbourne at 8.48 last night where it was “received quite well.” Photographs radioed from Melbourne have also been received in Wellington. Further tests will be conducted today and to-night in an effort to contact London direct, and also via. Melbourne and on a third route via Colombo. The Wellington - Colombo - London route will be worked between 10 p.m. and midnight to-night. The transmission times for pictures between Wellington and London are from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (New Zealand time). The cost of sending pictures has not yet been decided, but it is stated that it will probably be in the vicinity of £5 for 1550 square centimetres, the picture transmission price ruling between Australia and London.
