Tasman crossing, between Brisbane and Wellington for some months arrived at Wellington this morning. It was the Shaw Savill liner Wairangi

which brought 92 passengers for New •Zealand. The crossing took four days. The Wairangi was in ballast, having discharged all outward cargo at Australian ports. Among the passengers was the for-

mer chief engineer to the Government of Bombay, Mr W. Garrod.who is taking a holiday in New Zealand, before entering retirement in England. Another prominent passenger was Mr A. J. Byron, Australian general manager for Schweppes Limited, who is
