NEW CLINIC

WILL NOT BE READY FOR USE BY JUBILEE

Although it is well on the way to completion, the new dental clinic at Allenton School will not be ready for use by the time of the Allenton School jubilee, in a fortnight’s time, according to the contractor (Mr C. H. F. Maynard).

The new clinic will be a most valu able acquisition to the school. Located in a sunny spot in the school grounds, it' consists of an operating room, a waiting room, a nurse's room and conveniences. It has been proposed that the building should be officially opened during the jubilee celebrations by the new Minister for Health (the Hon. Miss Mabel Howard). Up to the present time Allenton children have had to go to the Borough school for treatment. Some ■ months ago a dental nurse was appointed to the school, it being proposed that she should treat Allenton pupils at the Borough clinic until such time as a clinic was ready at Allenton, but because of difficulty in obtaining accommodation her stay in Ashburton was extremely brief. The contract for the new clinic was let in January of this year.
