CLASHES IN VENICE (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) VENICE, June 29. Police using clubs and tear-gas fought Communists and Socialists trying to prevent Signor de Gasperi from speaking in St. Mark’s Square in defence of his Government, which excluded Leftists. A police captain, 10 police and many demonstrators were injured. Communists and Socalists fought thousands of youthful Christian Democrats who gathered to hear Signor de Gasperi speak.
