FUNDS HELD

MINISTER RETAINS KEY (Rec. 12.20 p.m.) BERNE, June 27. Mr Ferenc Gordon, former Hungarian Minister at Berne, said that, despite legal proceedings by the Hungarian Government, he refused to surrender the key of a strongbox at a Zurich bank, containing Hungarian Embassy funds. “I never surrender,” he said. “The present rulers of Hungary are the only legally appointed government.” Reliable reports say that Mr Gordon sent the key to Mr Trygve Lie, saying the United Nations was the only body competent to take charge of the funds.
