SHIP EXPLODES

TANKER RESCUES CREW (Rec. 11 a.m.) COLOMBO, June 27. The British ship Turkistan, carrying a cargo of ammunition, caught fire and exploded near Aden. The crew of the Turkistan abandoned the ship after the five broke out and a number of explosions had occurred. The tanker, British Marquis, picked up the crew, according to radio reports which said the Turkistan had become a danger to navigation. The Turkistan was bound from the Persian Gulf to Avonmouth, when the Britsh Marquis answered the distress signals.
