EIFFELTON DRAMA CLUB

COUNTY CENTRES

SUCCESSFUL YEAR REVIEWED

There was a good attendance at the annual'meeting of the Eiffelton Drama Club, held in the hull on Monday evening. The annual report was read by Mrs C. Kennedy (the president). It showed that the year had been a very successful one. The club had presented plays in its own and other districts. Among the social activities were the entertaining of the Lauriston Drama Club, when it kindly presented three one-act plays in the Eiffelton Hall, a trip for many members to the Christchurch Repertory Society’s presentation of “Rebecca” and the first annual ball which was a great success. The club had also made great advancement with its purchase of property, chief among which were a carpet fitting the stage and flats containing doorway, arch and window, which were added to the existing wings. The club were sorry to lose three of its valuable members, but the president, had much pleasure in welcoming several new ones. The annual balance sheet was then read by Miss R. Cocks, showing that the year had also been financially successful. Mr J. Cocks then took the chair for the election of officers. He 1 congratulated the retiring officers and members of the club on their successful year, and hoped they would continue to prosper. i The election resulted: —President, Mrs C. Kennedy; vice-presidents. Mesdarnes R. Ford, R. Quinn and W. Brash; secretary-treasurer, Miss J. Johnston; other members of committee, Mrs H. White, Misses S. Cocks and G. Murdoch. Messrs N. White. R. and A. Lovett, G. Blee and A. Jaine.

Suggestions for activities during the year were then made. The meeting concluded with a play reading. Supper was served. Table Tennis Club Re-formed A meeting was held in the Eiffelton. School on Wednesday evening to discuss the re-forming of the Eiffelton Table Tennis Club. As there was a fair attendance it was decided to commence meetings the Following Wednesday evening. ■ Meetings will be held in the school, using the two existing tables, and if attendances warrant’ meetings will be held in the Eiffelton Flail. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr J. Parsons; vice-presi-dent, Mrs R. Latimer; secretary-trea-surer, Mr V. Latimer; club captain, Mr J. Crossman; other members of committee, Miss 0. Keating and Messrs K. Latimer and A. Davison.

HINDS MINIATURE RIFLES

SCORES AT WEEKLY SHOOT The highest scores at the Hinds Miniature Rifle Club’s weekly shoot, held last Monday night, were as follow (handicap in parentheses): — Seniors —R. McKeage, 77.2 (4), 80; E. Shaw, 77,8 (2) 79; L. McDowell, 75 (G) 80; M. Rickard, 75 (4) 79; R. Fleet, 75 (8) 80; C. Whiting, 74 (10) SO; R. Bagrio, 74 (8) 77; G. Parrish, 72 (3) 75. Juniors —A. Betts, 77 (4) SO; I. Lennie, 75 (3) 78; J. Pratley, GS (3) 71. The senior Hotly Button was won by E. Shaw and the junior button by A. Betts.

Six men will shoot, off next Monday night for a trophy presented by Tuckers Ltd.

NO. 4 TROPHY SHOOT The Seafield Rifle Club held ils No. 4 trophy shoot on June 23. The shoot-off for No. 3 trophy resulted in a win for B. Cameron. No. 4 trophy was won by J.
