WOMEN’S DIVISION

METHVEN BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Methven branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held recently. Mrs M. C. Milne presided. i One new member Avas elected. Congratulations were extended to the members of the Methven Choral Society on their creditable performance in Christchurch recently. The secretary reported that the September food pai’cel for, Britain had been posted and arrangements were made to forward a parcel in October. Several members indicated their intention of attending the inter-provin-cial conference to he held in Ashbujy ton.

Pupils of the Mothven District High School and committee members of the Methven Play Centre were tlie guests of members to hear an address given by Miss Margaret Gardner Millar, of Christchurch, her subject being kindergarten work. . Competitions resulted: —Bloom, Mrs J. Stewart 1, Mrs B. Cottereil 2, Mrs J. Stewart 3; spike, Mrs J. Stewart 1 and' 2, Mrs H. MClean 3; shrub, Mrs J. Stewart 1, Mrs E. A. Mangip 2, Mrs B. Cottereil 3.
