LUNATICS ESCAPE

HOSPITAL BECOMES BEDLAM (■Rec. 10.30.) COLOMBO, Oct. 3. Fifty mental patients, including several with homicidal tendencies, escaped from a mental hospital. Hundreds of police, assisted by relatives and parents, are combing the countryside. Only two have been recaptured. The trouble arose when 60 attendants. disgruntled over the new diet arrangements, left the hospital in a body for meals, thereby flouting the superintendent’s order to go in groups. It is feared that the number of escapees is likely to increase. Meanwhile the hospital, where normally 2300 patients are accommodated, has become a Bedlam.
