Another defendant, Ivan Mikhailov, stated that he had spied for the Japanese since 1925, and received £IB,OOO for organising anti-Soviet newspapers and sending scores of agents into Russia in preparation for the Japanese attack. A number of Japanese officers are attending the trial to identify prisoners and confirm their espionage activities.
