4 ASHBURTON BRANCH MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the Ash burton branch of the N.Z. Home servicemen’s Association was held lasi evening, Mr W. Sparrow presiding over the following: Messrs H. Ryan. E. Harrison. D. J. Gibson, H. Houston. V. Peterson, T. Greer, J. Liddington, A T. Bright and C. Jackson. It was resolved that letters of sym patliy be forwarded to Messrs J. Weeks and W. Soal in respect of their recent bereavements. Correspondence was received regarding the annual conference, and the president reported on this gathering. Mr H. Ryan, the local delegate, also gave a comprehensive report on the proceedings. On the motion of the pre sident, a vote of appreciation was passed to Mr Ryan for the able manner in which he had represented the branch. Congratulations v?ere extended to the social committee on the very successful social evening held on August 17. Mr J. Liddington was appointed hospital visitor for September. It was decided that, after to-night, the weekly card evenings be suspend ed until further notice.
