HARVARD TO FLY WITH ARIES

LEAFLETS ON FOOD SAVING WILL BE DROPPED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 28. When the record-breaking Lancaster Aries leaves Ohakea at 2 p.m. to-mor-row for Whenuapai, it will be accompanied by an R.N.Z.A.F. Harvard. The two aircraft will fly over as many toAvns as possible during the flight, and the Harvard will drop leaflets prepared by the New Zealand Famine Emergency Committee to further the campaign to save food coupons for Britain. It Avas planned originally that the Aries should drop the leaflets, but because of structua.l alterations made to prepare the aircraft for the flight to New Zealand this is now not possible. As the Harvard is considerably sloAver than the Aries it is unlikely that the tAVO aeroplanes will be over towns together, but an effort Avill be made to keep them as close together as possible. It is hoped to make similar arrangements when the Aries flies from Whenuapai to'Wig ram on September 2, and during its flight over the South Island. With three days still to go, this Aveek’s special drive for coupons during the visit of the Aries has already surpassed the record collection for a week. To-day’s return of 76,368 meat coupons and 3440 butter coupons brought the figures for three days to 258,834 meat and 13.383 butter coupons. The record for a Aveek made early in the campaign, Avas 240,052 meat and 13,317 butter coupons.
