British Chess Championship. —R. F. Combe, of Elgin, won the British chess championship with 8 points, half a point ahead of G. Wood, of Southall. The New Zealander, R. G. Wade, secured Si points. The chess correspondent of “The Times” describes Combe as a sound positional player who seldom makes blunders. He states that the championship demonstrated a marked improvement in the standard of British ehess.
