The Governments of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom felt that they should have been consulted before any action was taken to permit Japan to resume whaling, said the Prime Minister, Mr J. B. Chifley. He was replying to a question at a press conference whether Australia and New Zealand had made a protest to General MacArthur. Mr Chiflev added they had made it clear that they should have been consulted. but they wanted to find out the rights and wrongs before ‘‘getting hot under the collar.”
