Mr F. J. K. Smallbone, formerly of Ashburton, has been elected president of the Geraldine Bowling Club. The Public Service Commissioner lias appointed Mr R. W. Coupland to be regional manager for the soul hern States of Australia representing the New Zealand Tourist .and Health Itesoris Department. Mr Couplarid will be stationed at the New Zealand Gov> eminent Bureau in Melbourne. He has had considerable previous experience of New Zealand tourist work in Australia, having spent 34 years in Melbourne. Previously Mr Coupland, who was well known in New Zealand cricket circles, had been district manager of the Wellington tourist, bureau for the last nine years, previous to which lie was district manager in Christchurch. The Minister-in-Charge (the Hon. W. E. Parry) said to-day (hat Mr Coupland’s appointment is part of the Government’s policy to resuscitate tourist traffic from the Commonwealth to the Dominion.
