NEW LIGHT CAR
AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT (Rec. 12.15) MELBOURNE, This Day. A 9cwt. four-seater car which can be packed up and moved round like a wheelbarrow will soon be selling in Australia. The managing-director of the Australian firm marketing tlie car said that it would be made of aluminium, and powered with a six horse-power engine, which would give it a top speed of 60 miles an hour and petrol consumption of GO miles per gallon, ft will sell in Australia for about £350. The ear, which is of American design, will be imported from England. The assembly and body-building plant for two larger American cars will be erected in Melbourne by a company which has been floated with a capital of £1,500,000. The first cars may be marketed here by May, 1947. Capital for the Australian plant, -which will provide employment for over 1000 men, is all Australian subscribed.
