“NO COLOUR BAR”

N.Z. TEAM FOR SOUTH AFRICA (Rec. 12.20 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG . August 26. The fact that the New Zealand Rugby team for South Africa in 1948 will, according to the New Zealand 'Union official, Mr J. Prendeville, be selected irrespective of colour, has aroused a good deal of interest in the Afrikaans newspaper, “ Dievaderland,” which had a front page announcement under the double column heading, “No Colour Bar in Composition of Rugby Team.” The president of the South African Rugby Board. Mr A. J. Pienaar, said the New Zealand Union had not yet officially accepted the invitation, “and it would be premature at tins stage to become excited over something which may be controversial, but which so far arises only from a report of an after-dinner speech.”
