WASTING TIME

Mr Jordan’s Outburst (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 26. Remarking that the Rt. Hon. W. J. Jordan, with his outburst about wasting time, became the mouthpiece of the impatience which is widely felt at the Paris peace conference, the “Economist” says- it was no doubt the result of sore provocation. The “Economist” adds; “Nevertheless attitude seems to be quite wrong for an international conference of this kind. It continues: “One of the weaknesses of democratic statemen is to seek quick results, but peace-making is a business at which statesmen must work until it is finished, without watching the clock, and if all the prinicipal Powers of the woi'ld are gathered in conference on matters ot the highest importance, Foreign Ministers cannot be better employed than at the conference, however long it may last.” 1
