STEADY RAIN TO-DAY
For the 24 hours preceding 9.30 this morning, 31 points of rain were recorded at the Ashburton Domain. A frost of 4.2 degrees was registered. Steady rain fell throughout the day. The maximum temperature yesterday was 47.4 degrees, while on Sunday it was 52.9 degrees. The screen minimum last night was 34.1 degrees, against 31.2 on the previous night. The barometer to-day had risen to 29.58 inches, from 29.38 yesterday. Recordings at Radar Station Twenty points of fain were recorded at the radar research station at 9.30 this morning, when humidity was 97 per cent. The barometer registered 29.39. inches. The maximum temperature yesterday was 48 degrees, while the screen minimum last night was 32.8 degrees. IMPROVING TO-MORROW (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General situation: There is a depression east of New Zealand and a ridge of high pressure extends from the North-west Tasman to south of New Zealand. a The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim . to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrtfw is as follows: South-westerly winds, fresli at times about Banks Peninsula, otherwise moderate; weather cloudy and cold with occasional rain, but improving in South Canterbury during to-mor-row.
