PRIME MINISTER’S ASSURANCE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This DayA lilting memorial to comradeship between Greeks and New Zealanders would be erected in Greece and Crete, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Mon. I . Fraser, assured members of Wellington’s Greek community on Saturday night. He was speaking at a reception in honour of the Governor-General, M* Bernard Freyberg, given by the PanIlellenie Association. Mr Fraser said the Government would welcome suggestions from the association and returned servicemen us to the form the memorial should take. . , , . Sir Bernard Freyberg had with him at tlu> reception a copy of an illuminated address sent to 2500 Greeks and Cretans who assisted New Zealand troops after the Germans occupied their country. The message, which expresses New Zealand’s gratitude, is signed by Sir Bernard Freyberg and the Prime Minister.
