ST. JAMES THEATRE
In “Her.e Come the Waves,” showing at the St. James Theatre to-night and on Monday, Paramount has a very delightful piece of musical comedy entertainment. The stars are Bing Crosby ,_Betty Hutton and Sonny Tufts and in addition there is a cast, of beautiful Wavelets, six new hit songs and a rendition by Bing of “That Old Black Magic.” Betty is a dazzling redhead who joins the Waves and Betty is also a dazzling blonde who is madly in love with Bing Crosby. They’re definitely not identical twins because the colour of their hair is different and so are their ideas. The redhead twin has no use for. bobby-sox enthusiasts who are “sent” every time they hear a certain voice. The blonde twin would just as soon spend her entire life in a heavensent dream-world, but she joins up with her sister and so there are two little Waves in the Navy. The masquerade causes much of the picture’s hilarity and a big camp show for the Navy provides some grand musical spectacle numbers. The supporting programme will include a March of Time on Germany, a Sportliglit on Ashing, Topeye cartoon and News reels.
