ASHBURTON LODGE
COMING VISIT BY DISTRICT OFFICERS A meeting of Ihe Loyal Ashburton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the lodge room, Burnett Street, on Thursday night. P.Cx. Bro. J. Phelps was iu the chair in place of P.G. Bro. W. K. Waters, who was in Christchurch representing the Ashburton District at the Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge ball. Sick pay amounting to £32 18s 4d was passed in favour of 23 members. The district secretary wrote advising the lodge that the district officers would visit Rakaia on August, 26, Methven August 28, Waterton September 14 and Hinds September 21, and suggested that Ashburton members visit those lodges on that date. A letter was received from the Ashburton Community Centre Committee, and it was decided that the questionnaire enclosed be filled in and a donation sent to the committee. It was also decided that it be suggested to the committee that the community centre proposed should serve as a war memorial for Ashburton and the County. After the meeting members enjoyed the customary euchre.
