DIVORCE IN BRITAIN
DECREES TO OPERATE IN SIX WEEKS (Rec.'ll n.m.) LONDON, July 31. Decrees nisi of divorce or nullity of marriage are to be made absolute in Britain after six weeks instead of six months. The order comes into operation on August G. The proposal, put forward by Mf Justice Denning’s committee on divorce procedure, has been accepted by the Lord Chancellor, in consultation with' Lord Chief Justice Goddard and the president of the Probate Divorce and Admiralty Division, Lord Merriman.
It is estimated that 60,000 couples will be'affected.
