ST. JAMES THEATRE The life story of a Flying Fortress is the theme the new Warner Bros, film “Air Force,” which will be shown at the St. James Theatre to-night and to-morrow afternoon and night. The story deals With the trials and tribulations of one “Mary Ann,” a B-17, caught unprepared above the embattled waters of the Pacific just prior to Pearl Harbour, starting when the “Mary Ann” and her crew of nine leave on a peace-time mission to Honolulu and ending, after many thrilling experiences, on Australian soil after the Battle of the Coral Sea. John Farfield, Gig Young and Harry Carey head the big cast. The associate feature is the dramatic murder mystery, “End of the Road,” with Edward Norris, June Storey and John Abbott in the leading roles. The serial will be shown at the evening sessions.

Jan, Rubini Concert

The brilliant young international violinist, Jan Rubini, assisted by the talented Russian pianist, Vassili lister, and Holly ward star, Terry Walker, will appear' in person on the stage at the St. James Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, August 7tli and Bth. The concert by these brilliant artists will be welcomed by music and entertainment lovers of Ashburton and district. The bright English comedy “His Lordship Goes to Press,” will occupy half of the programme. The booking plans are now open at Newton Jones’s book shop, East Street. The prices will be 3s and 2s plus tax.
