METHVEN
SOCIAL EVENING A social evening was held in the Methven Town Hall on Thursday in honour of local men who have just returned from the Middle l East. The evening took the form of a dance to music provided by Gilligan’s Orchestra, extras being played by Miss Nancy McArthur and Miss Eva McNamara. Mr W. J. Dolan was master of ceremonies. The guests were Mr and Mrs Evan Hepburn, Driver H. G. Chambers, Temporary Sergeant P. Kelleher. Temporary Corporal A. J. H&veldt, Driver IT. J. Harrison, Private A. Lament, and Sub Lieutenant K. W. Mcßurney. The chairmen, Mr L. L. Richards, welcomed the guests ,and other speakers were the Rev. Father O’Meeglian, Mr R. Wootton (R.S.A.), A. W. Wilson (Patriotic Committee.) Mrs F. J. Stone (Red Cross) and Mrs R. F. Sniitli (Comforts Committee) who made a small presentation to Mr Hepburn l , who was a prisoner of war.
