FIELDS REINSTATED
Canberra Trouble Over (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) CANBERRA, Jan. 21. Ernest Cyril Fields, -whose dismissal from the Hotel Kingston caused the Union ban on the household of Brigadier Derek Schveiber, has been offered bis job back without loss of pay. This follows the lifting of the ban on Brigadier Schveiber by the Trades and Labour Council. The ban will not be reimposed. The Council was told at a meeting that the boycott of the household was proving “internationally embarrassing” to the Prime Minister. The offer of reinstatement, which was made by the licensee of the hotel, embodies a guarantee against future victimisation and an assurance that Fields will be paid for the days be was off the job. Before the offer was made the licensee received an assurance that in the event of the restoration of the job and pay the “black” ban on the Tooliey hotels and Brigadier Schveiber would be lifted.
