MATHEMATICS CHAIR

NEW ZEALANDER'S APPOINTMENT (Rec. 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Doctor Keith Edward Bullen, a 39-year-old New Zealander with brilliant qualifications, lias been appointed to the Chair of Applied Mathematics lately established by the University of Sydney. Dr. Bullen obtained his M.A. degree with first-class honours in mathematics in 1927 and subsequently was lecturer in mathematics at Auckland University College. In 1931 he proceeded to Cambridge, where he continued his studies in mathematics and gained his degree. He was senior lecturer at Auckland University 'College until 1940, when he transferred to the University of Melbourne. Dr. Bullen is an applicant for the degrees of Doctor of Science at the University of Cambridge.
