FATAL CRASH
NEGLIGENCE ALLEGED (Rec. 9.30) WASHINGTON, Dec. 20. Failure to refuel for the return trip of 2400 miles from Honolulu to California caused an airliner to make a forced landing in the Pacific on November 3 with 18 fatalities.
The Washington correspondent of the “New York Herald Tribune’’ says the flight engineer, who allegedly checked the fuel with a rain wet stick and pronouced the tanks filled, will be court-martialled.
