The Kiwis met their equals m fitness and toughness and received something of a shock. _ T “The Times” says: The Navy played a fast, robust game all through, none doing better than R. >T. L. Hammond, captain, and one of the best forwards of either side. To a large*extent they upset the New Zealanders, who were put off their normal game ; but the tourists displayed their usual swiftness to take advantage of the errors by the opposition. Dobson, at centre, was particularly smart, in this direction." Scott, at full-back, also gave a polished exhibition.”
