FARMERS’ CAMPAIGN
PLANS WILL NOT BE TALKED ABOUT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, December 16. “It is evident that a carefullyorganised campaign is being conducted by Labour Party supporters through the correspondence columns of the press throughout New Zealand in order to counter the moves; planned by the farmers as a protest? at their treatment by the Government,” said Mr H. E. Blyde, a member of the action committee of the Farmers’ Union, in a statement on Saturday. “The union has no intention of talking about its plans. The time for talking is past, and officials of the union intend to follow the lead shrewdly given by our Dominion president, who refused to be drawn on the question of the union’s intentions.
“Actions speak louder than words, and the actions proposed by the union will not hurt the general public. If any farmer wants to know what is expected of him he can get information at the provincial office of his Farmers’ Union and by falling in with the plan can register an effective protest against the Government’s unfairness and also prepare ground for further action if it is necessary.
