’ PLEASANT WEEK-END
Following showprs of nine points of rain on Saturday night, a fine weekend was experienced in Ashburton. A north-easterly wind commenced yesterday morning, after which the atmosphere was cooler Ihah earlier in the morning. Conditions to-day were pleasant and sunny, with the sky lightly clouded.
The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 71.6 and 44.2 degrees, compared' with 57.3 and 43.2 on Saturday.
The barorrseter to-day registered 29.33 inches, against 29.84 yesterday.
FAIR CONDITIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, Issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: The situation Is of the south-westerly type. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows:
Aloderaie variable winds; weather, fair with moderate temperatures. Further outlook: Continuing fair.
