WOMEN’S DIVISION.
MID-CANTERBURY PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE A meeting of Mid-Canterbury Provincial Executive of tlie Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the A. and P. rooms. Mrs A. S. Hayman presided over a representative gathering. Mrs F. Johnson reported on the> recent health exhibition. Parcels of clothing and toys for London children were received from Lismore. One outstanding contribution was a scrapbook made by the children of the Lismore School, autographed and descrip, tive. The matter of supporting a drama tutor was discussed, and it was considered useless to take action until better hall facilities in Ashburton were available for the final drama competitions. The overcrowding of County school buses was also discussed, and it was decided to bring the matter before the authorities concerned. Mrs Mac Kay reported on wool and articles made for the merchant seamen. Mrs Milne reported on the successful activities of the sewing women. Two remits were discussed and finalised. Mrs Hayman reported on Te Kiteroa Rest Home business. Mrs E. M. Begg gave the housekeeper report. Mrs Copland reported on money donated toward the Churchill Fund. Special mention was made of the recent visit of the Dominion president.
