PREFABRICATED HUTS
EXPERIMENT IN MOUNTAINS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wild Life Department, which is a branch of Hie Internal Affairs Department, is shortly inaugurating an experiment with the erection of a prefabricated hut in an avalanche clearing in I,he Tararua Range as part of ils deer-culling scheme. If successful, it will be followed by the erection of 60 oilier huts in inaccessible parts in both islands. A feature of the. experiment will be the dropping of the huts by parachute. Major Yerex, bead of the Department! stated that the huts, which are to be known as laminated huts, are constructed of four-foot-long partitions made of plywood, with the exterior of galvanised steel. They will be delivered on selected sites by planes of the aerodrome branch oi 11i<* Works Department. Deer shooters employed by the Department will be trained in their erection. The shooters would be supplied by parachute with ammunition. si ores and equipment.
