METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB.

PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW. The second day of the Metropolitan Trotting Club will be held at Addington to-morrow. Good acceptances have been received for all events and some close finishes are assured. Most interest lies in the National Handicap, with Knave of Diamonds, Cabin Boy and Double Peter as ruling favourites. Next in order of interest is the Metropolitan Stakes for which Josie Dell, Czardas and Air Marshal are the logical fancies. RIDER FOR TYPHOON.

LEADING JOCKEY APPROACHED. SYDNEY, August 23. If the New Zealand horse, Typhoon, trains on satisfactorily, it. will be ridden in the, Caulfield and Melbourne Cups by the leading Sydney jockey, W. Cook. . . Cook said he had been approached to take the mount, but everything depended on how the horse shaped in Australia. Typhoon is expected to arrive in Australia soon. It was only by an oversight that he was not nominated for the big A.J.C. double, the Epsom and Metropolitan. Typhoon has already had substantial backing to win the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup double. His backing originated in the dream of a Melbourne sporting man who has built, up a reputation through the number oi winners he has tipped. He claims that he dreams them and it was not until he had. tipped the winning spring

double two years in succession that people took him seriously. Now he has dreamed that Typhoon won the two cups double, and a rush to back the horse has followed.
