ALUMINIUM HOUSES.

PRODUCTION IN BRITAIN. LONDON, April 17. An aluminium house designed by Britain’s Aircraft Industries Research Organisation on Housing, known as “Airoh,” has now passed technical tests. Production will begin as soon as the Ministry of Aircraft Production can allot factory capacity. Of various types thus far produced for the Ministry of Works, one is made in four sections, each complete in itself. The house ckn be erected within a few hours of the arrival of the parts on the site. It is a, single-storey building of two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The floors are of timber and the Avails are insulated against noise and extremes of temperature. It is stated that the most obvious advantage of aluminium alloys for prefabrication is their light Aveight for transport and handling. The experience of the aircraft industry has shown that the alloys can be subjected to tremendous strain.
