FINAL VICTORY TEST. ,Rec. 1.5 ‘p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 22. England won the fifth and final Victory Test by six wickets. Cristofani, with a magnificent fighting century, gave Australia a fighting chance of averting defeat, but England’s batsmen, with 150 minutes left scored the necessary 141 runs comfortably. Cristofani, Australia’s eighth batsman, treated all the bowlers alike. He hit powerfully all round the wicket. Seven wickets were down for 86 when Cristofani came to the wicket. With Williams, who hatted for 90 minutes for 12, Cristofania added 95 for the ninth wicket. The English bowler, Pliillipson, playing his first match of the series, took six wickets for 58 on a wicket which made the ball kick dangerously. England lost three good wickets for 70, but sound battling gave them victory. Scores — Australia, second innings, 210 .Pepper 23, Cristofani, 110 not out).
