LETTERS PERMITTED.

PRISONERS IN SINGAPORE. <P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 22. The Postmaster-General, the Hon. F. Jones, stated to-day that R.N.Z.A.F. planes which are going to Singapore to begin the repatriation of prisoners of war and civilian internees in Japanese hands would be used to carry mail to such prisoners and internees. Mr Jones said that persons desiring to send letters should address them as usual. Only light letters would be carried, but the restriction on wordage no longer' applied. No guarantee of delivery could be made, but every endeavour .would, be made to see that the letters were delivered.
